Mona El Banna

Founder and CEO of Monappetit Culinary Academy

Biography

Mona studied media at the American University in Cairo and worked in marketing and Brand advertising for 7 years before she changed her career to follow her passion in cooking.

Mona grew up in a family that loved to cook. From a young age she learned all the secrets of cooking from her grandmother and mother. In 2011, she launched her YouTube cooking channel. Before too long she had lots of followers. The idea to launch her cooking school came to her after she realized that with the increasing number of cooking shows, many of the presenters were not experienced enough. She traveled to Dubai and studied Culinary Arts from the International Centre for Culinary Arts (ICCA). After she retuned back, she opened her cooking center, MonAppetit to teach culinary arts to amateurs and stay at home moms. She offered intensive classes that range between a day and a week.

Within two years after it's opening, MonAppetit has become a renowned center among professional chefs. It became the only private culinary center in Egypt sought by those who wanted to learn how to cook.

In 2018, Mona successfully transformed Monappetit Center to become Monappetit Culinary Academy, and in 2019 became the only certified Culinary Academy in Egypt from City College Oxford. In 2020, Monappetit managed to change the certification to Cambridge Training College Britain. Now, Monappetit offers total Food services such as Culinary Arts courses, Food Consultancies for Food Businesses, Certified Trainings for Professional Chefs, Marketing
